The Time Traders by Andre Norton
The very first SF book I ever read was Time Traders. The adventures of Ross Murdoch, Ashe Gordon, and the other Time Traders as they fought against Soviet Agents through out the past, and their discovery of the "Baldies" were so vivid that I felt as if I had been drawn into the story with them. I was hooked. I went through every Norton book in the local libraries. I walked with brothers in fur, adventured on distant planets with Free Traders, was awed by the magic of the Witch World. After reading every Norton book in print at the time, I turned to other SF authors. I discovered Clifford Simak, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Arthur Clarke, Robert Silverberg, Fred Saberhagen, and Frank Herbert. But my foremost love in SF has always been Andre Norton. Although she has passed away she will live on through her works.
