Korean Fusion: Kimchi Breadsticks

Quite a few people ask “What else can you do with kimchi?” One answer is Kimchi Bread Sticks, a quick and tasty snack that blends Korean flavor with an American favorite. Increase the recipe size to make a larger quantity for game days.

Ingredients

1 any “white” or whole grain flat bread (6 inch diameter)

2 teaspoons butter

2 teaspoons kimchi, minced

1 ounce shredded pepper jack

Optional

1 teaspoon minced garlic

Procedure

Slice the flat bread into 6 strips.

Heat a skillet over medium heat.

Place 1 teaspoon butter and have the minced kimchi into the skillet. Sauté about 45 seconds.

Add three of the bread strips and fry on each side about one minute.

Sprinkle some of the cheese over the top of the bread sticks and allow to partially melt.

Turn the bread sticks and sprinkle some more cheese over them, turn and fry long enough for the cheese to brown. Turn again if needed..

Repeat with the next three bread sticks.

Serve as a snack, appetizer, or side dish.
