Bori cha (Korean Toasted Barley Tea)

Ingredients

dried barley

For 1/2 Gallon of Tea

toasted barley

Procedure

Toasting Barley

Place dried barley in a stir fry pan with no oil over medium heat.

Cook (toast) until golden brown, stirring constantly.

Place toasted barley in a storage container and keep in a cool dry place until use.

Making tea

Full Flavored:

Bring water to a full boil, add barley and reduce heat to low.

Simmer for ten minutes then remove from heat.

Strain into a pitcher or other container and let cool.

Serve warm or refrigerate and serve cold.

Lighter Flavor:

Place barley into a re-usable tea bag.

Bring water to a boil then remove from heat.

Add bagged barley and let steep until desired strength is reached.

Tips

Tip: For single servings, put 1 tablespoon of the toasted barley into a re-usable tea bag for ease of use.
